MacBook Case Reviews

You just got a shiny new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, lucky you.  I know it seems counterintuitive but we Speck MacBook Casebuy Apple products for their beauty and simplicity of design and the first thing we do is look for some case or cover to put them in or put on them

If you think about it how much of your life is stored on your laptop? So, if you leave it on the roof of your car and drive away you don’t want it to be damaged when it inevitably falls to the ground. Hopefully something like this  doesn’t happen to you.  One of the best things you can do to protect your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro is invest in a case or a sleeve for your new Mac. In this post I will be reviewing several MacBook Cases of all types and in all price ranges so there will be something for everyone and anyone.

Three Types Of Cases For Your MacBook

  • Hardshell Case
  • Sleeve
  • Backpack or Bag Type Case
  • Living Dangerously

If you look at this list the last item on the list is living dangerously and to me that is not really an option. Put simply you are walking around with a new MacBook that cost upwards of two thousand dollars in some cases not to mention the value of all the data that’s stored inside. If you think of what is on your laptop to me it’s pictures, it’s Topcase Rubberized Hard Casebusiness files, music everything. One of the first things you should buy as a new MacBook owner in my opinion is a Hardshell case. There are so many choices out there in the marketplace how do you really choose? There are lower end hardshell cases for people who just really want to carry their MacBook from their desk to the table in the kitchen at their house. So if you are that person you really don’t need that much protection so just getting one of the cheaper hardshell cases is fine for you. You are just trying to protect your MacBook from the occasional drop or bump but then there are people who are going to be taking their MacBook everywhere from work to every coffee shop in town.

MacBook Sleeves

MacBook Sleeves are a really great option for people who carry their MacBook around a lot. So if you are walking to and from your car or into different work sites or client sites then I would recommend getting a MacBook Sleeve. For a greater level of protection I would carry my MacBook in a Hardshell case in a Sleeve. This way your Mac is protected from harder drops from just carrying it around. Then when you do take it out of the sleeve you have the protection of the hardshell.

Backpacks or Bags For Your Macbook

If you are a student or someone who is always on the go with their MacBook you will definitely need a backpack or some type of padded bag for your MacBook as well as all of the other stuff you need to carry for work or school or just your life. One thing nice about Laptop bags and Mac bags in particular is in the old days of laptops they all came in one color black. So if you liked black that was great but if you had any sense of style or wanted something different too bad. That’s not the case anymore there are many styles and colors to choose from.

The Best Protection For Your MacBook

Truly the best protection for your MacBook is a hardcase put in a MacBook sleeve then when you are going place to place you put the sleeve in a backpack or padded bag that is actually made for a laptop. Which means it is made especially for your MacBook.

Gifts For Dad

Gifts For Dad

If you want to give your dad the best gift give him your time. Go spend time with him doing his favorite thing. Whether that is working on that hot rod he built or fishing on the lake. Most dads would just like to spend time with their kids.

Buying a Gift For Your Dad

If you want to buy a gift for your dad this think about what he’s into and that can help you get an idea for what to get him as a gift. Does he love fishing or hunting? Is he into Photography or Fishing? Does he have all the posters from every Star Wars movie ever made that will give you some ideas of where to start looking. If any of those are the things he is into you can buy him something to go along with the hobby. Or even a book about his hobby. If he is a Techie you can buy him that thing he won’t buy himself because hey maybe it’s too expensive. For instance my dad loves Apple products but wouldn’t spend the money on an iPad so I bought him one as a gift and he loved it.

Dad’s love Experience Gifts

You know how we talked about what does your dad love to do. Well, you could also get him an experience type of gift. So if he has always wanted to skydive or go to a race car driving school you could  get him a gift like that. A friend of mine sent her dad on a to a place where they do ziplines and he loved it and has taken all his friends back. If he is into music you could get him beginner guitar lessons or some instrument that he would enjoy.

If you have a dad like this there are a lot of choices for gifts here.

You Know Your Dad’s Favorite Band

Remember your dad’s favorite band. You know  the cassette tape you had to listen to a million times ever since you were a kid. Well you could get your dad a gift having to do with the band. A Poster, a New T-Shirt to replace his old ratty one from the concert he went to in 1977. Heck even a guitar if he plays. Did he have a band in high school? Find that old VHS tape of the band playing at some donut shop or school gym and have it put on DVD or a Thumbdrive and give that to your dad trust me he will love it. Then show him how to upload it to YouTube if he wants to. He will get a kick out of calling all his old buddies and telling them about it.
