Gas Or Electric Pressure Washers
When choosing a pressure washer Gas or electric is really a big decision. There are a lot of trade offs based on this decision to go gas or electric in your pressure washer buying decision. Everything from size, weight how much pressure the machine puts out to how much it costs is determined by whether or not it is gas or electric-powered. Not to say that the gas machine is always more expensive or more powerful. But that is generally the case with pressure washers.
Electric Pressure Washers
The benefits of an electric pressure washer are several. For one they definitely cost less than a gas pressure washer you can get a quality electric pressure washer in the $100.00 and up range. Which is really a great deal. An electric pressure washer does not put out as much pressure as your typical gas pressure washer. An electric pressure washer will usually be a smaller machine. Typically an electric pressure washer runs in the 1900 to 2000 psi and uses about 1.4 to 1.5 GPM. What do those fancy acronyms mean? Well, PSI means pounds per square inch. and GPM means gallons of water per minute. Not only all of that but typically an electric pressure washer will take up a whole lot less space in your garage when you are not using it. But if you look at the list below as you can see you will find more and more things to pull it out and clean with it. Simply because a pressure washer does the job so well in so little time. One of the downsides of electric pressure washers is you are dependant on electric cords so you either need a dedicated plug which doesn’t matter if you are around the house or you need a good generator. Another benefit of electric pressure washers is they are very quiet compared to gas machines. This is a definite benefit.
What Can You Clean With An Electric Pressure Washer
- Garage and Driveways
- Patios and Decks
- House siding
- Outdoor Furniture at the end of Summer before you put it away for winter
Gas Powered Pressure Washers
Gas Pressure Washers are built for big jobs. These machines put out a lot of pressure. I am talking about 2700 to 3200 plus psi running 2.5 gpm. That is a lot of power. Gas pressure washer typically cost a little more than electric models but they will give you more power for the price. So that same large deck that you had to go over twice with the electric pressure washer. Now, you can just do it once, with the gas-powered pressure washer. How is that for time savings. Not to mention that there are no electrical cords to worry about with these machines.
- Oil and Grease From Your Driveway
- Large Decks and Patios
- Graffiti Removal
As you can see a gas pressure washer can do most of the things an electric pressure washer can. It just does it without cords and with a lot more power. About the more power in some situations you need to be careful of that power and use the wide-angle tips. After all the straight tip on some gas pressure washers will etch metal. Another downside of gas pressure washers is the sound. They are noisy. So if you do get one of these machines make sure to get some hearing protection I recommend this pair ear muffs. Also think of your neighbors so don’t use one of these machines early in the mornings or late at night it’s just the neighborly thing to do.
