Electric Lawn Mowers
Are you thinking of buyingg a new mower for your family this year? If so you really should consider an Electric Lawn Mower. There are a couple different types of Electric Lawn Mowers and then there are times when a gas mower would be a better choice for your family. I will show you how to choose between the different types of Electric Mowers on the Market and show you some highly rated mowers. As for me at first I was not convinced about the electric lawn mower. My friend showed me his Green Works 25292 rechargeable electric lawn mower and I have to say I was impressed. For him he simply bought it for the environmental benefits. But for me I like the environmental benefits but just how quiet it was and how well it actually cut my lawn. Even the taller grass needless to say I was impressed. Not to mention how easy this is to start compared to a gas mower. I can see something like this being perfect for people who are older or who just aren’t strong enough to pull start a mower. The other great thing about this mower was just the fact that I never had to buy gas for the mower again. You know the drill you get half the lawn mowed and run out of gas only to realize that there is none in the one gallon gas can. So you drive to the gas station to fill up with one gallon of gas only to drive back and pour most of it in your gas tank and save the rest for next time. With a rechargeable lawn mower there is no more running around for one gallon of gas. Gas is over.
How to Choose An Electric Lawn Mower
There are two types of electric lawn mowers on the market. There is the cordless Li-ion mowers that you simply recharge the batteries much like you do for a cordless drill or cordless saw. This is the type that I tested out. Some of these rechargeable mowers come with more than one battery so you can be mowing and charging the next battery at the same time. Then there is the corded type of electric lawn mower. These were the original electric lawn mowers. You basically plug it in and mow the lawn it works great. There is a bit of a trick to mowing with a corded mower in that you don’t want to be constantly moving your cord. So what my neighbor showed me is you simply mow away from the outlet in a design that allows you to not run over your cord. In this way cord management is a lot easier. I prefer the cordless electric mower just because it’s simple and I don’t have to have hundreds of feet of cord to pull around the yard with me. Not to mention I have to wind it up, at the end when I’m done mowing the lawn. There is also a time when you should just stick with a gas mower. If you really have a lot of lawn to mow say more than you can do in about 40 minutes then a rechargeable is not for you. You can go with a corded lawn mower but then you are pulling all that cord around the yard. So if you have a normal size yard up to about 12,000 square feet and let’s face it that’s a lot of lawn for most people today you can get by with either type of electric mower. Beyond that you should go for a gas mower.
